The London International Christian Church mobilised nearly 150 MERCY Ambassadors across seven projects throughout London — a powerful day of unity, sacrifice, and love, living out Mark 10:45. In Stratford, nearly 50 ambassadors took part in Compassion in Action, singing, praying, sharing water, cards, sandwiches, and fruit, and offering encouragement to the community. At the Oldhill Children’s Centre, 40 ambassadors transformed the outdoor space by clearing the compound, cutting back overgrown trees, removing ivy, and restoring damaged areas. Jaden, one of our teens, said: “Today was amazing. We worked hard cutting down the bushes and sweeping the floors. It felt helpful and productive. I’ve been around MERCY since I was young — even wearing the tiny MERCY shirts when I was about five. Serving today felt special.” Lawrence shared: “Proverbs 27:17 says, ‘Iron sharpens iron.’ Without having other people here encouraging me and pushing me, I wouldn’t be able to push myself.” He added: “We worked hard, we pushed hard, and then we had an amazing barbecue afterwards.” Mantas said: “At first it felt impossible, but once we got on top of it, we got it all done.” Reuben said: “It looked like there was no chance, but we grouped together — it was a real team effort.” Carol from Hands-On London said: “The unity today was amazing. Everyone worked so well together.” Alex, the site supervisor, shared: “Thank you for coming. The turnout and energy were incredible. The damaged fence was a major challenge, but your teams handled it brilliantly. The transformation is night and day. We’d welcome you back anytime.” After the work, MERCY and Hands-On London jointly organised a BBQ — a refreshing time of fellowship, gratitude, and connection. At London Social, six ambassadors spent the afternoon with elderly residents through music, dance, aerobics, dominoes, food, and warm conversation. The residents were deeply grateful. This is an ongoing MERCY partnership supported by the MERCY Bible Talk. At the BME Health Celebration, the ambassadors received significant praise for their contribution. Representatives from various institutions approached the team about future partnerships because of the ambassadors’ professionalism and impact. Nafsika, the lead organiser, said: “We were so appreciative of your support. We couldn’t have pulled this through without you.” She added: " The young people were so competent, professional, reliable and a joy to work with. They helped so much to make the event a success and we couldn’t be more grateful for their help with every aspect of the event from registration to clear up” Across East London, more than 30 ambassadors from the East Region, the Essex House Church, and the Watford Bible Talk led a major food drive in three large superstores. Multiple crates of food were collected to support families affected by the rising cost of living. One shopper donated generously after hearing about the project. This reflected Proverbs 19:17: “Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord.” Our sister Annie, who leads the Single Mums Bible Talk, hosted a community picnic with the mums and their children — a warm time of food, fellowship, and encouragement. Three friends joined: Méfino and Bami, who are studying the Bible, and Andrea, who wants to come to church. Bruna met Anika, who wants to attend the Bible Talk, and Ronke also expressed interest in joining the Bible discussions. On the way to the train, the mums gave out roses with scriptures to mums in the community — simply to remind them that they are beautiful and amazing. Everyone left encouraged. The Golden Girls 50+ group, along with the North Region shepherdess and several sisters, travelled to Stansted Airport to welcome home a sister returning from Ireland who has been facing health challenges. They encouraged her and gave her a warm MERCY Day welcome, living out Galatians 6:2. MERCY Day was a powerful demonstration of servant leadership, unity, and love. Seven projects, one city, one church — serving with the heart of Jesus.
